U2101
Anti-Lock Control
Pinpoint Test J: DTC U2101:00
Refer to Wiring Diagrams Set 42, Vehicle Dynamic Systems for schematic and connector information. Electrical Diagrams
Normal Operation
The ABS module must be configured with the correct vehicle configuration information for correct operation. The ABS module with the IC (Instrument Cluster) over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) must be configured properly, as well as other modules that the ABS module provides information to and receives information from (such as the IC (Instrument Cluster)) over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN).
The ABS module requires correct vehicle configuration information to operate correctly. This information is programmed into the module when a new module is installed. The IC (Instrument Cluster) is also programmed with the vehicle configuration information and shares this information with other modules over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN). Incomplete or improper flash programming procedures, a loss of communication between the IC (Instrument Cluster) and ABS module, swapping modules between vehicles or an internal failure of one or more modules will cause a mis-match of vehicle configuration information between the modules.
- DTC U2101:00 (Control Module Communication Incompatible: No Sub Type Information)- This DTC sets when the vehicle configuration information transmitted by the IC (Instrument Cluster) does not match what is stored in the ABS module.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- ABS module
- ABS module configuration
- IC (Instrument Cluster) configuration
PINPOINT TEST J : DTC U2101:00
NOTICE: Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multi-meter probes.
J1 CHECK FOR ABS MODULE AND IC (Instrument Cluster) DTCs
- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self Test- ABS Module.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self Test- ABS Module.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self Test- IC (Instrument Cluster).
Are any communication or module internal failure DTCs present either module?
Yes
For ABS module DTCs, REFER to the ABS Module DTC Chart. Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems
For IC (Instrument Cluster) DTCs, REFER to Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
No
GO to J2.
J2 VERIFY CORRECT ABS MODULE CONFIGURATION
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Programmable Module Installation- ABS Module.
- Configure the ABS module using As-Built data.
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self Test- ABS module.
Is DTC U2101:00 present in the ABS module?
Yes
GO to J3.
No
The concern was caused by a incomplete or improperly programmed ABS module, the repair is complete.
J3 VERIFY CORRECT IC (Instrument Cluster) CONFIGURATION
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Programmable Module Installation- IC (Instrument Cluster).
- Configure the IC (Instrument Cluster) using As-Built data.
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self Test- ABS module.
Is DTC U2101:00 present in the ABS module?
Yes
GO to J4.
No
The concern was caused by a incomplete or improperly programmed IC (Instrument Cluster), the repair is complete.
J4 CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS MODULE OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: ABS Module C155.
- Check ABS module C155 for:
- corrosion.
- pushed-out pins.
- spread terminals.
- Connect: ABS Module C155.
- Make sure the connector seats correctly, then operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). REFER to Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) . TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
