identifying low tire pressure in one or more wheels.

condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Is the TPMS warning light illuminated identifying one or more tires low on air pressure?
a. Yes - continue to Step 2.
b. No - this procedure doe not apply, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 204-04 for normal diagnostics.
2. Determine which tire(s) have low air pressure by using either an air pressure gauge or the TPMS diagnostics.
3. For the tire(s) identified with low air pressure, determine if air is leaking from the tire bead seat area on wheel(s) by removing the wheel/tire assembly from the vehicle and either spraying with soapy water solution or using a dunk tank. Is the air leak coming from the tire bead seat area?
a. Yes - continue to Step 4.
b. No - this procedure does not apply, refer to WSM, Section 204-04 for normal diagnostics.
4. Remove all four (4) wheels from vehicle.

7. On each tire:
a. Remove vents and whiskers from both the inboard and outboard bead seat area using a coarse grit emery cloth. (Figure 1)
b. Perform 10 circumferential rub cycles (back and forth) per side until surface is smooth. (Figure 2)
8. Reinstall tires onto wheels.
9. Before inflating, depress inboard side of each tire and apply bead sealant circumferentially to the entire inboard wheel bead seat surface. (Figure 3)
a. The sealant is being applied to the inboard wheel bead seat surface and the illustration is a wheel cross section with the arrows showing the areas to apply the bead sealer. (Figure 3)
10. Repeat Step 9 and apply the sealant to the outboard wheel bead seat surface. (Figure 3)
11. Inflate each tire to seat the tire to the wheel and let stand for 15 minutes, refer to WSM, Section 204-04.
