Rear Subframe: Service and Repair



Subframe - Rear

General Equipment

Removal

All vehicles

1. NOTICE: Suspension and subframe fasteners are critical parts because they affect performance of vital parts and systems and their failure can result in major service expense. A new part with the same part number must be installed if installation becomes necessary. Do not use a replacement part of lesser quality or substitute design. Torque values must be used as specified during reassembly to make sure of correct retention of these parts.

Remove the wheels and tires.

2. NOTE:
- The stabilizer bar links are designed with low friction ball joints that have a low breakaway torque.
- Use the hex-holding feature to prevent the ball stud from turning while removing or installing the stabilizer bar link nut.

On both sides.
Discard the specified component. Follow local disposal regulations.







3. Remove both rear lower control arms.
4. On both sides.
Discard the specified component. Follow local disposal regulations.







5. On both sides.

Vehicles with all All-Wheel Drive (AWD)

7. Remove the driveshaft.
8. Remove the halfshafts.

9. NOTE: Located in RR wheel opening.

NOTE: AWD shown Front Wheel Drive (FWD) similar.

11. General Equipment: Transmission Jack.







12. Discard the specified component. Follow local disposal regulations.

Installation

All vehicles

- Tighten to 115 Nm (85 lb-ft).







Vehicles with AWD

5. Install the halfshafts.
6. Install the driveshaft.

All vehicles

8. On both sides. Finger tighten only.







9. On both sides. Finger tighten only.







10. Install both rear lower control arms.

11. NOTICE: Tighten the suspension bushing fasteners with the suspension loaded or with the weight of the vehicle resting on the wheels and tires, or incorrect clamp load and bushing damage may occur.

General Equipment: Jackstand.







12. NOTICE: Tighten the suspension bushing fasteners with the suspension loaded or with the weight of the vehicle resting on the wheels and tires, or incorrect clamp load and bushing damage may occur.

On both sides.
- Tighten to 115 Nm (85 lb-ft).







13. NOTICE: Tighten the suspension bushing fasteners with the suspension loaded or with the weight of the vehicle resting on the wheels and tires, or incorrect clamp load and bushing damage may occur.

On both sides.
- Tighten to 115 Nm (85 lb-ft).







14. NOTE:

- Tighten to 70 Nm (52 lb-ft).







15. Install the wheels and tires.
16. Check and, if necessary, align the rear end.
