Compressor Center Section Seal Replace
1. Refer to appropriate procedures and remove front and rear compressor heads.
2. Using plastic headed hammer and block of wood tap around rear half of compressor to separate 2 compressor sections and remove center O-ring. Depending on piston position, a piston may pull out of a cylinder bore. With proper alignment and care piston will enter cylinder properly.
3. Make sure that small O-ring at discharge crossover location is properly positioned.
4. Mount front compressor head in J-33026 holding fixture or equivalent, and insert cylinder and shaft assembly into front head with shaft end down.
5. Lubricate new O-ring, groove and seal surface with clean 525 viscosity refrigerant oil. Insert O-ring into center section O-ring groove.
6. Check that discharge crossover O-ring is in place. Insert 5/16 inch drill rod or shank through discharge crossover passage in both center section halves to align them.
7. With both hands, press center section halves together and remove alignment rod.
8. Install front and rear compressor heads as described in appropriate procedures.
