Back Drive Linkage Adjust

Some General Motors units are equipped with anti-theft lock systems which lock not only the steering column but the transmission linkage as well. It is essential that this "back drive" linkage also be adjusted when any adjustment to the manual shift linkage is made. This adjustment must be precise as any inaccuracies may result in unit operation without controls in full detent which, in turn, will cause reduced oil pressure and subsequent failure of the transmission.

Adjust back drive at trunnion so that:

1. Transmission is in full detent in each selector position.

2. With key in Run position and transmission in Reverse, key cannot be removed and steering wheel is not locked

3. With key in Lock position and transmission in Park, key can be removed and the steering wheel is locked.
