Component Tests and General Diagnostics

1. CHECK that Grounds G200, G202, and G400 are clean and tight.
2. CHECK GAUGES Fuse 4 by observing the Instrument Cluster Gauges.
3. CHECK CIG LTR Fuse 13 by operating the Cigar Lighter.
4. CHECK PWR ACCY Circuit Breaker for an open condition. If breaker is open, LOCATE and REPAIR source of overload. REPLACE breaker.
5. CHECK terminal contact before replacing any component.
^ CHECK for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system failure but prove "good" in a continuity/voltage check with a system disconnected. These circuits may be intermittent or resistive when loaded, and if possible, should be checked by monitoring for a fuse voltage drop with the system operational (under load).
^ CHECK for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems. Refer to "General Troubleshooting Procedures". Diagnostic Aids
6. If a second Transmitter is available, TRY it. If it works, CHANGE the Batteries in the first Transmitter and TRY again. If it still doesn't work, it is defective. REPLACE Transmitter.
7. CHECK that Portable Transmitter Battery Terminals are clean and make good contacts with the Battery.
8. If in doubt as to the condition of the Transmitter Batteries, REPLACE them with new ones. CHECK Battery Voltage with a DMM for proper results. REFER to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver for access and additional information. CHECK for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system failure but prove GOOD in continuity/voltage check.
