Scan Tool Tests

Systems Tests
Systems tests using the scan tool allow for the display of values as actually seen or commanded by the various systems, such as the vehicle control module (VCM), the sensing and diagnostic module, the electronic brake control module, or the Passlock(TM)/electronic variable orifice module. The test types available depend upon the system selected, but the tests may include the following types:
1. The data (analog inputs) test displays analog values as seen by the system.
2. Inputs and outputs (digital inputs) test displays the digital values as seen by the system. This test type also provides an indication of whether the input or the output has cycled.
3. The special functions (output controls) test allows for the outputs of the system to be set at a desired value, such as on or off.
4. The clear codes test erases all the DTCs stored for the system currently selected. However, if the malfunction is still present, the DTC may immediately reset.

Snapshot
The snapshot function is the same function used in capturing DTCs for the VCM. Refer to the scan tool instruction manual for more information.
