Steering Wheel Replacement

^ Tool Required:
- J 1859-A Steering Wheel Puller
- Or Equivalent

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Disable the SIR system.

Disconnecting The Inflator Module From The Steering Wheel:





3. Inflator module.

Steering Wheel Replacement:





4. Steering wheel nut.

Horn Contact Replacement:





5. Horn plunger contact.
- Note or mark the relationship of the steering wheel splines to the steering shaft.

Steering Wheel Removal:





6. Steering wheel using J 1859-A.

CAUTION: Do not hammer on the puller, or damage could result to the steering column.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Steering wheel onto the steering shaft.

NOTE: Align the marks made at removal.

2. Horn plunger contact.
3. Steering wheel nut. Tighten to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
4. Inflator module.
5. Negative battery cable.
6. Enable the SIR system.
