1980---85 G & 1980---87 P MODELS
1. Remove steering wheel as outlined previously.
2. Remove cancelling cam and spring, then the instrument panel trim plate, if equipped.
3. Disconnect turn signal switch wiring harness at half moon connector.
4. Pry wiring harness protector from column retaining slots, Fig. 3.
5. Mark location of each wire in half moon connector, then disconnect wires from connector using tool J-22727 or equivalent, Fig. 4.
6. Remove turn signal lever screw and lever.
7. Push hazard warning knob inward, then unscrew knob from plunger.
8. On tilt column models:
a. If equipped with automatic transmission, remove PRNDL dial screws, then the dial and indicator needle. Remove cap and dial bulb from housing cover.
b. Unscrew, then remove tilt release lever.
c. Using tool J-22708 or equivalent, remove turn signal housing cover from housing as shown, Fig. 5.
9. On all models, remove turn signal switch mounting screws, then carefully remove switch assembly from column by guiding wiring harness through opening in shift lever housing.
10. Reverse procedure to install.
