Braking Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair

Installing Stoplamp Switch:

SWITCH REPLACEMENT

Remove or Disconnect:

1. Negative battery cable.
2. Electrical connector.
3. Switch.

lnstall or Connect:

1. Switch.
2. Adjust switch.
^ Refer to "Switch Adjustment."
3. Electrical connector.
4. Negative battery cable.




SWITCH ADJUSTMENT

1. Depress the brake pedal and press the switch in until it is firmly seated in the clip.
^ Audible "clicks" can be heard as the threaded portion of the switch is pushed through the clip.
2. Pull the brake pedal against the pedal stop until the audible "click" can no longer be heard.
3. Electrical contact should be made when the brake pedal is depressed 13.5 mm (0.53 inch) from its fully released position.
