Vehicle Speed Sensor: Service and Repair
VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR (VSS)
VSS 4WD Or AWD:
TOOL REQUIRED: J 38417 [1][2]Speed Sensor Remover and Installer.
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Harness connector.
2. Bolt.
3. Vehicle speed sensor.
^ Have a suitable container to catch the fluid.
4. 0-ring seal.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. New [1][2]speed sensor and 0-ring seal.
^ Coat the seal with a thin film of transmission fluid.
2. Bolt.
TIGHTEN
^ Bolt to 11 Nm (97 in. lbs.).
3. Harness connector.
^ Refill fluid as required.
