EXCHANGE POLICY
SUBJECT:
INFORMATION ON INJECTION PUMP EXCHANGE PROGRAM
MODELS:
1994 C/K TRUCKS, G-VAN, AND P MOTORHOME WITH 6.5L DIESEL ENGINE
An electronic fuel injection pump will be used on many 6.5L diesel engine powered vehicles (VINs F, P, S - RPOs L65, L49, L56) for the 1994 model year. These Stanadyne Model DS pumps will be serviced by pump exchange program for the 1994 model year.
NOTE:
The 1994 mechanical fuel injection pump (Model DB-2) on VIN Y trucks will not be handled on exchange; they will be handled in the same manner as previous model year injection pump repair.
The exchange program will be coordinated through the Technical Assistance Network (TAN), who will provide diagnostic assistance and a case number which allows for the pump exchange.
PROCEDURE:
The servicing dealer determines if the fuel injection pump requires repair, using the Tech 1 diagnostic tool, service manual, and the diagnostic worksheet. If the diagnostic checks lead to the pump, the servicing dealer contacts TAN for a case number. If TAN agrees with diagnosis, a case number - which the dealer must have to obtain an exchange pump - is assigned. The servicing dealer will exchange the pump at a PARTICIPATING Stanadyne Service Dealer.
Most Stanadyne Service Dealers will be participating in the exchange program. Participating Stanadyne Service Dealers and Central Distributors at the time of bulletin printing are listed within this bulletin. If a participating dealer cannot be located, the servicing dealer should call the area Stanadyne Central Distributor for the closest participating dealer.
FOR VEHICLES WITHIN THE STANADYNE WARRANTY PERIOD (36 months or 50,000 miles), there will be no charge to the servicing dealer for the exchange pump PROVIDED the warranty exchange conditions are met, i.e., TAN case number, completed diagnostic worksheet, and completed warranty repair claim form GSD-675, all of which must accompany the defective pump. If the warranty exchange conditions are not met, the Stanadyne Service Dealer may charge for the exchange pump. The servicing dealer is authorized to charge for pump R&R (J5950), shipping charges, and 0.2 hour administration.
FOR VEHICLES OUTSIDE THE STANADYNE WARRANTY PERIOD (greater than 36 months or above 50,000 miles), Stanadyne will charge the servicing dealer for the exchange pump. If the vehicle is still within the engine warranty (less than 60 months or 100,000 miles), the servicing dealer can submit a warranty claim for the pump exchange (J5955), shipping charges, and 0.2 hour administration. The warranty exchange conditions (TAN approval, completed diagnostic worksheet, and warranty form) will still be required by the Stanadyne Dealer to complete the exchange.
If the defective pump is not returned at the time of exchange, the Stanadyne Service Dealer may bill the servicing dealer $900.00 which will be cancelled only if the pump is returned to the Stanadyne Service Dealer within 30 days. The servicing dealer is responsible for shipping charges to and from the Stanadyne Service Dealer.
