HUB AND DISC / DRUM ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT
With Full Floating Axle (11 Inch Ring Gear)
TOOL REQUIRED:
- J 2222-C Wheel bearing Nut wrench.

REMOVE OF DISCONNECT
- Raise the vehicle until the wheel is free to rotate.
1. Tire and wheel assembly.
2. Axle shaft.
3. Nut using J2222-C, or retaining ring.
4. Lock or key.
5. Adjusting nut.
6. Washer.
7. Hub and drum, or hub and rotor.
INSPECT
- For any worn or damaged parts. Replace any part which appears defective.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Hub and drum, or hub and rotor to the tube.
- Be sure the bearings and the oil seal are positioned properly.
- Apply a light coat of high melting point EP bearing lubricant to the contact surfaces and the outside of the axle tube.
2. Washer.
- Engage tang in keyway.
3. Adjusting nut.
TIGHTEN
- Adjusting nut to 68 N.m (50 lb ft) while turning the hub.
- Back off locknut and retighten to 41 to 54 N.m (30 to 40 lb ft) while hub is rotated.
- Back off nut 135 degrees to 150 degrees.
- Final bearing adjustment is 0.025 to 0.25 mm (0.001 to 0.010 inch).
4. lockwasher and outer locknut.
- Bend one ear of the lockwasher over inner nut 30 degrees minimum.
TIGHTEN
- Nut to 68 N.m (65 lb ft).
5. Axle shaft.
6. Tire and wheel assembly.
- Lower the vehicle.
