Radiator Assembly Description
Caution: NEVER spray water on a hot radiator. The resulting steam could cause personal injury.
A cross-flow radiator is used on all models. Tanks in this type of radiator are located to the right and left of the core. Radiators have an oil cooler with inlet and outlet fittings for transmission fluid circulation.
The crossflow radiator uses a pressure-vent filler cap to allow a buildup of 103 kPa (15 psi) in the cooling system. The cap allows the system to operate at a higher than atmospheric pressure. This pressure
Core and Tanks
The core is made of aluminum and is of the crossflow design. It utilizes large tubes that resist plugging. Repairs to the tubes and core are not recommended for service. The core is attached to the tanks by clinched tabs on the core that cannot be bent back. If the tank or core is at fault, a complete radiator must be replaced.
Transmission Oil Cooler
The transmission oil cooler is located in the right hand side of the radiator side tanks. The oil cooler cannot be replaced.
Engine Oil Cooler
The optional engine oil cooler is mounted inside the left tank with inlet and outlet fittings for engine oil circulation.
Drain Cock
The aluminum/plastic radiator utilizes a one-piece plastic drain cock, with a rubber hose attached for easier draining.
