Fuel Pressure Sensor: Service and Repair

FUEL RAIL PRESSURE (FRP) SENSOR REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the air conditioning (A/C) compressor.
2. Disconnect the fuel rail pressure sensor (1) electrical connector.
3. Prior to removal, clean the function block and fuel pressure sensor thoroughly with solvent, such as GM P/N 12377981 (Canadian P/N 10953463) or equivalent.
4. Using compressed air, thoroughly blow dry the block and sensor.
5. Remove the sensor and metal gasket from the function block. Discard the gasket.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. If a crows foot is used to torque the sensor then special attention to the position of the crows foot in relation to the torque wrench is required.
2. Install the sensor and a NEW metal gasket to the function block.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




3. If the crows foot is kept perpendicular (90 degrees) to the torque wrench during the entire tightening procedure, then the torque wrench can be set to the listed torque specification.

Tighten
Tighten the sensor to 70 N.m (52 lb ft).




4. Connect the sensor (1) electrical connector.
5. Install the A/C compressor.
