Hood Replacement

Removal Procedure






Caution: When a hood hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.


1. Raise the hood (1).
2. Support the hood at the front and the rear.




3. Remove the hood ground strap and nut.
4. Release the harness and the lamp from the hood.




5. Remove the bolt holding the hood hinge to the hood link assembly (7).
6. Lower and support the hood.




7. Remove the outboard sections of the cowl vent grille panel.




8. With an assistant, remove the pivot bolt (3).
9. With an assistant, remove the hood from the vehicle.
10. Remove the hood hinge from the hood. Refer to Hood Hinge Replacement .



Installation Procedure

1. Install the hood hinge to the hood. Refer to Hood Hinge Replacement .




2. With an assistant, install the hood (1) to the vehicle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice .

3. Install the pivot bolt (3).

Tighten the pivot bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

4. Lower the hood.




5. Install the outboard section of the cowl vent grille panel.
6. Raise the hood.




7. Install the bolt (7) holding the hinge to the link assembly.

Tighten the hinge to link assembly bolt (5) to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).





8. Install the hood ground strap and nut. Clip the hangers and the lamp in place.

Tighten the ground strap nut to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

9. Lower the hood.
