Vehicle Speed Sensor Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
2. Disconnect the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) electrical connector (1).




3. Remove the VSS and O-ring seal.

Installation Procedure




1. Coat a NEW O-ring seal with a thin film of Synchro-mesh transmission fluid GM P/N 12345349 (Canadian P/N 10953465), or equivalent.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

2. Install the VSS and O-ring seal.

Tighten the VSS to 16 Nm (12 lb ft).




3. Connect the VSS electrical connector (1).
4. Lower the vehicle.
