Evaporative Emission Canister Vent Solenoid Valve Replacement (Front of Tank)

Removal Procedure

Note: Clean the evaporative emission (EVAP) connections and surrounding areas prior to disconnecting the fittings in order to avoid possible system contamination.

1. Lift and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.




2. Disconnect the solenoid vent filter (1) from the fill pocket by squeezing the base of the solenoid vent filter to release the tabs.




3. Remove the tie strap (1) that holds the solenoid vent line to the fuel fill pipe.




4. Remove the 2 EVAP canister vent solenoid pipe clips (1) from the brake pipes.

5. Disconnect the chassis wiring harness electrical connector from the EVAP canister vent solenoid.




6. Disconnect the EVAP vent solenoid pipe quick connect fitting (1) from the EVAP canister. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service Procedures.




7. Insert a small flat bladed tool between the EVAP canister vent solenoid and the fuel tank bracket, disengaging the retainer (1).

8. Slide the EVAP canister vent solenoid (2) off the bracket towards the front of the vehicle.

9. Remove the EVAP canister vent solenoid assembly (2) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. Position and install the EVAP canister vent solenoid assembly (2) to the vehicle.

2. Slide the EVAP canister vent solenoid (2) onto the bracket towards the rear of the vehicle.

3. Ensure that the EVAP canister vent solenoid engages the fuel tank bracket retainer (1).




4. Connect the EVAP vent solenoid pipe quick connect fitting (1) to the EVAP canister. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service Procedures.

5. Connect the chassis wiring harness electrical connector to the EVAP canister vent solenoid.




6. Install the 3 EVAP canister vent solenoid clips (1) to the brake pipes.

7. Install the tie strap (1) that holds the solenoid vent line to the fuel fill pipe.




8. Connect the solenoid vent filter (1) to the fill pocket by pressing the solenoid vent filter into the fill pocket slots to engage the locking tabs.

9. Lower the vehicle.
