EGR Electronic Vacuum Regulator Solenoid: Testing and Inspection

VSV Solenoid:

EGR VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE SOLENOID TEST

1. Disconnect two vacuum hoses from VSV solenoid.

2. Disconnect electrical connector with ignition switch in the "OFF" position.

3. Using a digital multimeter measure resistance between two terminals of EGR vacuum switching valve.

4. You should have 33-39 ohms of resistance. If resistance is within specification proceed to step 5. If not, replace EGR vacuum switching valve.

5. Blow air into tube "A," air should exhaust through filter, not tube "B."

6. Reconnect electrical connector.

7. Ignition ON, ground diagnostic request terminal.

8. Blow air into tube "A," air should exhaust from tube "B" now. If VSV solenoid fails the check, replace VSV.
