Fig. 73 Checking Locating Spring Free Length:

1. Check ball bearing operation, and replace as necessary.
2. Check needle bearing and bearing contacting surfaces for wear, and replace as necessary.
3. Check gears for wear or damage, and replace as necessary.
4. Check springs for distortion or breakage, and replace as necessary.
5. Check free length of locating springs, Fig. 73. If free length is less than .709 inch, replace locating spring.
6. Check drive chain and sprockets for excessive wear or damage and replace as necessary.
7. Check oil seals for excessive hardness or leakage, and replace as necessary.
