Front Steering Knuckle: Service and Repair



1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel.
2. Using suitable jack, support suspension arm, then remove wheel hub and dust cover.
3. Tapping with a hammer, remove wheel spindle.
4. Using tie rod end remover No. J21687-02 or equivalent, remove tie rod end.
5. Remove steering knuckle from suspension arm by tapping with hammer.
6. Remove dust seal and wheel spindle from steering knuckle.
7. Reverse procedure to install. Noting the following:
a. Coat mating surface of wheel spindle and steering knuckle with GM Silicone Sealer No. 1015275 or equivalent.
b. Fill in spindle recess and knuckle seal recess with with GM Lubricant No. 11052196 or equivalent.
c. Using driveshaft and inner oil seal installer No. J37750 or equivalent to install inner knuckle seal.
d. Tighten to specifications.
