Fuel Pump: Service and Repair
FUEL PUMP REPLACEMENT
Remove or Disconnect
^ Follow the "Fuel System Pressure Relief" procedure. Fuel Pressure Release
^ Follow the "Fuel Tank Replacement" removal procedure. Fuel Tank Removal and Installation
1. Eight fuel pump mounting screws.
2. Fuel pump bracket from fuel tank.
3. Fuel pump supply hose extension from bracket (loosen screw-type fitting).
4. Gasket from pump bracket or tank.
5. Filter from pump pick-up tube.
6. Pump electrical connector wires from pump.
7. Fuel pump bracket on fuel tank.
8. Outlet hose from pump.
Inspect
^ Pump and bracket for damage to fittings and mounting areas.
^ Pump outlet hose for deterioration.
^ Filter for plugging.
^ Pump bracket and fuel tank sealing surfaces for damage.
^ Fuel tank interior for water, dirt or corrosion.

Install or Connect
1. Outlet hose on pump.
2. Pump on bracket.
3. Pump electrical connector wires.
4. Filter on pump pick-up tube.
5. Gasket on pump bracket.
6. Fuel pump supply hose extension on bracket (tighten screw-type fitting).
Tighten
Tighten fuel pump supply hose fitting nut to 34 Nm (25 lb.ft.).
7. Fuel pump bracket on fuel tank.
8. Fuel pump mounting screws.
Tighten
Tighten pump mounting screws to 3 Nm (30 lb. in.).
