Intake Manifold: Service and Repair

1. Release fuel system pressure as follows:
a. Loosen fuel filler cap to fuel tank pressure.
b. Remove radio as outlined under ``Radio Replace'' in the ``Electrical'' section.
c. Disconnect circuit opening relay electrical connector.
d. Start engine and allow to stall.
e. Crank engine for an additional 3 seconds to release any remaining fuel pressure.
f. Disconnect battery ground cable.
g. Reconnect circuit opening relay connector.
h. Install radio and tighten filler cap.
2. Disconnect vacuum hoses from vacuum sensor on fuel filter, brake booster and A/C actuator hoses.
3. Disconnect exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) solenoid valve, vacuum hose from EGR valve then remove the EGR valve.
4. Remove intake manifold brace.
5. Disconnect fuel return hose from pressure regulator.
6. Disconnect TPS sensor and accelerator bracket then remove the throttle body from intake manifold.
7. Remove air intake chamber brace and gasket.
8. Disconnect PCV hoes from cylinder head cover.
9. Remove air intake chamber cover and gasket.
10. Disconnect fuel inlet pipe from fuel rail.
11. Disconnect injector electrical connectors.
12. Remove fuel rail with injectors attached.
13. Remove intake manifold bolts and the intake manifold.
14. Reverse procedure to install.
