Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

PROCEDURE
1. Check the hydrometer eye which is integrated into the BATTERY, before troubleshooting the Starter or Charging System.
^ Blue Eye - BATTERY is charged.
^ Clear or Yellow Eye - BATTERY is discharged. Recharge BATTERY.
^ Dark Eye - BATTERY fluid is low. Replace BATTERY.

2. Check BATTERY for overcharge conditions such as spewing of electrolyte or yellowing of BATTERY case.
3. Check that all STARTER MOTOR and GENERATOR connections are clean and tight.
4. Check Fusible Links FL-1 and FL-2 with a fuse tester.
5. Check Fuses C-7, C-11 and C-21 with a fuse tester.
6. Check that the (Neutral) Relay (Base - Automatic Transaxle), Restart Relay and the Heater and A/C Relay are securely mounted into their cavities.
7. Check that grounds G100, G101, G102, and G103 are clean and tight.
