Brake Pad: Service and Repair

1. Raise and support vehicle and remove wheel.
2. Remove caliper mounting bolts, Fig. 2.
3. Remove caliper from knuckle, taking care not to drop inside pad. If only shoe and lining assemblies are to be replaced, suspend caliper from chassis using suitable hanger. Do not allow caliper to hang by brake hose.
4. Remove outside pad.
5. Install pad clips, No. 1 & 2, then outside pad to knuckle, Fig. 3.
6. Install caliper and inside pad to knuckle, Fig. 4. Position outer springs over caliper as shown.
7. Tighten caliper bolts to specifications.
8. Install front wheel.
9. Lower vehicle and perform brake test.
