Brake Rotor/Disc: Service and Repair


Front Rotor

Removal






1. Hoist car and remove wheel.
2. Uncaulk spindle nut.
3. With foot brake pedal depressed by another person, loosen disc bolts until they can be turned by hand and remove spindle nut.
4. Remove caliper and pads.










5. Pull out wheel hub by using special tools as shown.
6. Remove brake disc from wheel hub.

Installation

1. Install disc to wheel hub temporarily.






2. Insert spacer into wheel hub. See figure for its installing direction.

Note: Before installing wheel hub to knuckle see WHEEL HUB Service and Repair Section for wheel bearing spacer alignment.






3. While turning hub, drive it in with plastic hammer until hub center comes out (until its even installation is confirmed).
4. Install pads and caliper.






5. Torque disc bolts and spindle nut to specifications.
