Intake Manifold: Service and Repair

1. Relieve fuel system pressure as outlined under Fuel Pressure Relief. Under Powertrain Management/Computers and Control Systems/System Diagnosis/Procedures/Diagnostic Charts/A Charts/Chart A-7 Fuel System Diagnosis.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Drain cooling system, then remove air cleaner assembly.
4. Disconnect electrical connectors from coolant temperature sender, engine and coolant temperature sensor.
5. Disconnect electrical connector from EGR vacuum switching valve.
6. Disconnect electrical connectors from idle speed control valve, throttle position switch and fuel injector.
7. Disconnect ground wires from intake manifold.
8. Disconnect fuel hoses from throttle body.
9. Disconnect coolant hoses from intake manifold.
10. Disconnect MAP sensor hose from intake manifold.
11. Disconnect evaporative emission hoses from intake manifold and tube.
12. Disconnect power brake unit vacuum hose from intake manifold.
13. Disconnect PCV valve hose from cylinder head cover.
14. Disconnect accelerator cable from throttle body.
15. Disconnect all other electrical connectors and hoses to permit intake manifold and throttle body removal.
16. Remove intake manifold to cylinder head attaching nuts and bolts, then remove intake manifold and throttle body as an assembly.
17. Reverse procedure to Install.
