Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

Exhaust System:

1. Raise and safely support vehicle.

2. Remove two bolts and front pipe/catalytic converter assembly from exhaust manifold.

3. Remove two nuts and front pipe/catalytic converter assembly from resonator/muffler/tail pipe assembly.

4. Remove Hanger supporting catalytic converter and remove front pipe/catalytic converter assembly from vehicle.

5. Clean gasket and seal mating surfaces.

6. Install front pipe/catalytic converter assembly to vehicle, support catalytic converter with hanger.

7. Install front pipe/catalytic converter assembly with a new gasket to resonator/muffler/tail pipe assembly, secure with two nuts DO NOT tighten fully.

8. Install front pipe/catalytic converter assembly with a new seal to exhaust manifold, secure with two bolts. Align all system components then tighten all bolts to 50 N-m (26 lb. ft.).

9. Lower vehicle, run engine and check for exhaust leaks.
