Steering Wheel: Service and Repair

NOTE: On Air Bag Equipped Models, Refer To Air Bag Disarming & Arming Procedures. Refer to Air Bags and Seat Belt/Air Bags(SRS)/Service and Repair.


1. Remove air bag inflator module as described in Seat Belts. Under Air Bags and Seat Belts.
2. Remove steering wheel nut, then place alignment marks on steering shaft and wheel for use during installation.
3. Remove steering wheel using a suitable puller tool.
4. Reverse procedure to install. When installing steering wheel, align marks made during removal. Torque steering wheel nut to 24 ft. lbs.
