Heater Core: Service and Repair



1. Disarm airbag system as outlined under Airbag System Disarming. Refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts/Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint System)/Air Bag.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Remove evaporator case assembly as outlined under Evaporator Core.
4. Drain cooling system into a suitable container.
5. Loosen and remove heater core hoses.
6. Remove heater core pipe grommet from vehicle.
7. Remove Instrument panel as outlined under Instrument Panel Pad/Cluster, Replace. Refer to Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Lamps.
8. Remove right and left instrument panel brace.
9. Remove left and center ventilation ducts.
10. Remove heater case from vehicle.
11. Remove two heater core brackets then slide the heater core from vehicle.
12. Reverse procedure to install, rearming airbag as outlined under Airbag System Arming. Refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts/Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint System)/Air Bag.
