Remove or Disconnect1. Negative (-) battery cable.
Vehicle Speed Sensor:
2. Vehicle speed sensor (VSS) electrical connector from VSS.
3. One bolt and VSS from transaxle case.
Inspect
1. For VSS diagnosis procedures.
2. VSS 0-ring for cuts or damage. Replace as necessary.
Install or Connect
Tool Required: J36850 Transjel Transmission Assembly Lubricant
^ Apply J36850 to the VSS 0-ring.
1. VSS into transaxle case; secure with one bolt.
Tighten
^ Vehicle speed sensor (VSS) bolt to 6 Nm (53 lb.in.).
2. VSS electrical connector to VSS.
3. Negative (-) battery cable.
Tighten
^ Negative (-) battery cable-to-negative (-) battery terminal retainer to 15 Nm (11 lb.ft.).
