Remove or Disconnect1. Negative (-) battery cable.
Vehicle Speed Sensor:
2. Vehicle speed sensor (VSS) electrical connector from VSS.
3. One retaining bolt and VSS from transaxle case.
Inspect
1. VSS driven gear for excessive wear or damage. Replace VSS as necessary.
Install or Connect
1. VSS into transaxle case; secure with one bolt.
Tighten
^ Vehicle speed sensor (VSS) bolt to 11 Nm (97 lb.in.).
2. VSS electrical connector to VSS.
3. Negative (-) battery cable.
Tighten
^ Negative (-) battery cable-to-negative (-) battery terminal retainer to 15 Nm (11 lb.ft.).
