Distributor Removal & Installation


REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

1. Negative battery cable.
2. Secondary plug wire retainers at distributor cap.
3. Secondary plug wires from distributor cap.
4. Three distributor cap mounting bolts and cap from distributor.

Distributor Assembly:






5. Distributor electrical connectors.

MARK

6. Distributor housing position on the cylinder head.
7. Distributor rotor position on the distributor housing.

REMOVE

Distributor Assembly Removal:






8. Distributor housing mounting bolts and distributor from cylinder head.
9. O-ring from distributor housing.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

10. New O-ring from distributor housing.
11. Distributor to cylinder head; loosely secure the two mounting bolts. Match the marks made on the engine during removal. Be certain that the rotor position also matches the marks made on the distributor during removal.
12. Distributor electrical connectors C1 and C2.
13. Distributor cap and three mounting bolts to distributor.
14. Secondary plug wires to distributor cap.
15. Secondary plug wire retainers to distributor cap.
16. Negative battery cable.
