DISTRIBUTOR DISASSEMBLY, TEST AND REASSEMBLY PROCEDURE

TOOL REQUIRED
J 39200 Digital Multimeter

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

IMPORTANT: Make sure that the ignition switch is in the "LOCK" position.

1. ECM connector C2 (yellow 24 cavity connector).
2. Two screws and distributor cap from distributor.
3. Distributor rotor and signal rotor cover from distributor housing.

MEASURE
Probe ECM connector C1 (green connector still connected) with a J 39200 from cavity "1" to ECM connector C2 cavity "13" (disconnected yellow connector).

^ Turn ignition switch to "ON."

IMPORTANT: Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor magnet must be free from any metal particles.

A. CMP sensor voltage with signal rotor inserted between hall element and magnet (magnetic flux cut off).

^ If voltage is 0 to 1.0 volts, proceed with Step B.
^ If voltage is not 0 to 1.0 volts, refer to Computers and Control Systems / System Diagnosis for further diagnostic procedures. Testing and Inspection

B. CMP sensor voltage without signal rotor inserted between hall element and magnet (magnetic flux applied).

^ If battery voltage is detected, the CMP sensor is operating normally. Turn ignition switch to "LOCK."
^ If battery voltage is not detected, refer to Computers and Control Systems / System Diagnosis for further diagnostic procedures.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Distributor signal rotor cover and rotor to distributor housing.
2. Distributor cap to distributor; secure with two screws.
3. ECM connector C2 to ECM.
