Band Apply Servo: Service and Repair

1. Remove valve body from transmission. Refer to Valve Body. Service and Repair

2. Compress servo piston with tool No. J 23075 or equivalent, Fig. 6.

3. Using a suitable pair of pliers, remove servo piston snap ring, Fig.6, and slowly loosen tool. Remove tool, servo piston, return spring and apply rod, Fig. 7.
4. Install apply rod, return spring and piston into case.
5. Using tool No. J 23075 or equivalents, compress spring and install snap ring, Fig. 6.
6. With suitable 3/16 inch wrench on servo adjusting bolt, adjust apply rod by torquing bolt to 40 inch lbs., back off bolt exactly 5 turns, then tighten locknut while holding apply rod in position.
7. Install servo cover and new gasket, if equipped, then tighten cover attaching screws to specifications.
8. Install valve body.
