Shift Cable: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Place manual selector lever in Neutral position.
3. Remove manual selector. Refer to Shift Lever, A/T / Service and Repair. Service and Repair
4. Remove shift selector clip, washer and E-clip, then cable from selector lever.
5. Raise and support vehicle. Remove select cable locknut and shift select cable from selector lever.
6. Reverse removal procedure to install noting the following:
a. Place manual shift lever in Low position.
b. Place cable in bracket.
c. Shift select cable into manual shift lever while moving manual shift lever to Neutral position, then secure with locknut but do not fully tighten.
d. Lower vehicle and install select cable to selector lever and secure with E-clip, washer, and retaining clip.
e. Tighten selector locknut to specifications.
f. Tighten manual selector bolts to specifications.
