Heated Glass Element: Description and Operation

With the Ignition Switch in "ON," voltage is applied through the REAR DEFG Fuse to the REAR DEFOGGER SWITCH.

Whenever the REAR DEFOGGER SWITCH is pressed to the ON position, system voltage is applied through the closed contacts of the switch to the REAR DEFOGGER INDICATOR, and to the REAR DEFOGGER. The REAR DEFOGGER is permanently grounded at G400. Because the REAR DEFOGGER is a resistive element, it begins to heat as soon as voltage is applied. Since the REAR DEFOGGER INDICATOR is permanently grounded at G200, it will light when voltage is applied.

The REAR DEFOGGER SWITCH does not incorporate an integral timing circuit. Therefore, the switch must be pressed to the OFF position to terminate REAR DEFOGGER operation.
