Brake Pad: Service and Repair



REMOVAL
1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove wheel assembly.
3. Remove brake line, caliper bolts, then the caliper. Hang caliper with a wire hook or equivalent, to prevent brake hose from bending or twisting excessively. Do not depress brake pedal with pads removed.
4. Remove disc pads and pad retaining clips.
5. Remove rotor retaining screws and rotors.
6. Clean and inspect parts.
7. Resurface rotors.

INSTALLATION

1. Install rotors and rotor retaining screws, then the pad retaining clips.
2. Install pads, then the caliper. Torque caliper bolts to specifications.
3. Install brake line, Fig. 3, then bleed brake system.
4. Install wheel assembly. Check brakes for proper operation.
