Brake Light Switch: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect stop lamp switch electrical connectors.
3. Remove switch adjustment nut, then unscrew switch from brake pedal bracket.

INSTALLATION

1. Install stop lamp switch in brake pedal bracket. Do not fully tighten locknut.

2. Pull upward on brake pedal and adjust switch to a distance of .02-.04 inch between threaded portion of stop lamp switch and brake pedal return cushion, Fig. 21.

3. Tighten stop lamp adjustment nut to specifications.
4. Connect stop lamp switch electrical connectors.
5. Connect battery ground cable.
