Air Temperature Sensor ( Ambient / Intake ): Service and Repair

Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor:






NOTE: The Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor is part of the Air Cleaner (ACL). Care should be used when handling IAT sensor.

Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
2. Disconnect the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor electrical connector.
3. Disconnect the PCV hose from the Air Cleaner (ACL).
4. Disconnect the one bolt and the wing nut from the Air Cleaner (ACL) to the Throttle Body Fuel Injection (TBI) unit.
5. Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) from Throttle Body Fuel Injection (TBI) unit.
6. Remove the IAT sensor from the ACL.

Installation Procedure
1. Install the IAT sensor to the ACL. Tighten the IAT sensor to 15 Nm (11 lb. ft.).
2. Connect the PCV hose to the Air Cleaner (ACL).
3. Connect the IAT electrical connector.
4. Install the Air Cleaner (ACL) to the TBI unit.
5. Secure the Air Cleaner (ACL) with the one bolt and the wing nut. Tighten the ACL bracket bolt to 10 Nm (7.5 lb. ft.).
6. Connect the negative (-) battery cable. Tighten the negative (-) battery cable-to-negative (-) battery terminal retainer to 5.5 Nm (4 lb. ft.).
