Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

Exhaust System Components:












REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Raise and suitably support vehicle.
2. Two bolts and front pipe/TWC assembly from exhaust manifold.
3. Electrical connector at heated oxygen sensor (HO2S2).
4. Two nuts and front pipe/TWC assembly from resonator/muffler/tail pipe assembly.
5. Hanger supporting TWC and remove front pipe/TWC assembly from vehicle. Clean gasket and seal mating surfaces.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Front pipe/TWC assembly to vehicle; support TWC with hanger.
2. Front pipe/TWC assembly with a new gasket to resonator/muffler/tail pipe assembly; secure with two nuts. Do not tighten fully.
3. Electrical connector to heated oxygen sensor (HO2S2).
4. Front pipe/TWC assembly with a new seal to exhaust manifold; secure with two bolts. Do not tighten fully.

^ Align all system components properly to prevent any noise or vibrations before tightening fasteners.
^ Tighten front pipe/TWC assembly-to-exhaust manifold bolts to 50 Nm (37 ft lb).
^ Tighten front pipe/TWC assembly-to-resonator/ muffler/tail pipe assembly nuts to 35 Nm (26 ft lb).

5. Lower vehicle.
