Shift Select Cable
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Two screws and selector lever knob from selector lever.
2. Six screws and console from vehicle.
3. Manual selector cover illumination lamp bulb socket from cover.
4. Four screws and manual selector cover from selector lever.
5. One retainer clip, one clevis pin and shift select cable from selector lever.
6. Front carpet retainers and pull back carpet.
7. One retaining clip and shift select cable from transaxle retaining bracket.
8. One nut and shift select cable from manual shift lever.
9. Two bolts from bulkhead grommet and shift select cable out of bulkhead from transaxle side.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Shift select cable and grommet through bulkhead; secure with two bolts.
Tighten
- Bulkhead grommet bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb. ft.).
2. Shift Select cable to manual shift lever; secure with one nut.
3. Shift select cable into transaxle retaining bracket; secure with one retaining clip.
Adjust
- Adjustment nut "All by hand until it contacts manual shift select cable joint.
Tighten
- Adjustment nut "B" with an open end wrench until jammed against manual shift select cable joint.
4. Route shift select cable under carpet to selector assembly.
5. Refit and position carpet.
6. Front carpet retainers and secure carpet.
7. Apply lithium grease to shift select cable clevis pin.
8. Shift select cable to selector lever; secure with clevis pin and retainer clip.
9. Manual selector cover to selector lever; secure with four screws.
10. Manual selector cover illumination lamp bulb socket to cover.
11. Console into vehicle; secure with six screws.
12. Selector lever knob to selector lever; secure with two screws.
Important
- After shift select cable is installed, check the following:
A. With the ignition switch in the "OFF" position and the selector lever in "P" position, attempt to manually push the vehicle. Vehicle should not move.
B. Verify that vehicle CANNOT be driven in "N" position.
C. Verify that vehicle CAN be driven in "D," "2," and "L."
D. Verify that vehicle CAN reverse drive in "R."
