Removal and Installation

Fig. 8 Compressor Mounting:

1. Run engine at idle speed and turn on A/C for a few minutes.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Remove left front splash shield.
4. Disconnect compressor clutch lead.
5. Discharge refrigerant from system.
6. Disconnect suction and discharge hoses from compressor and cap all openings.
7. Loosen compressor mounting bolts and remove compressor drive belt.
8. Remove # 1 and # 2 spark plugs, Fig. 8.
9. Remove discharge hose support from upper bulkhead and move hose to one side.
10. Remove three compressor bracket mounting bolts, then remove compressor and bracket as a unit, Fig. 8.
11. Reverse procedure to install.
