Inspection
Fig. 1 Armature draw test:
1. Rotate compressor pulley by hand and check for excess bearing play and drag. Replace pulley as required.
2. Apply 8 volts to the field coil and check that the armature is drawn by the rotor pulley, Fig. 1.

3. Measure clearance between pulley and armature as shown in Fig. 2. If the clearance is not between .013-.026 inch, the armature should be removed and correct number of shims should be installed.
