Control Assembly: Service and Repair


1. On Coupe models, proceed as follows:
a. Disconnect air mix cable from heater assembly.
b. Remove trim panel attaching screws, then the trim panel.
c. Remove temperature control lever knob, then the control panel from trim panel assembly.
2. On Hatchback, Sedan and Station Wagon models, proceed as follows:
a. Disconnect temperature control cable, function control cable and recirculation cable.
b. Remove heater control knobs and the fan switch.
3. On Hatchback and Sedan models, proceed as follows:
a. Remove center face panel attaching screws, then the center face panel.
b. Remove heater control attaching screws.
4. On Station Wagon models, proceed as follows:
a. Remove illumination (instrument) panel attaching screws, then the panel assembly.
b. Remove steering column mount attaching bolts, then lower steering column assembly.
c. Pull heater control panel assembly from steering column side post.
5. Reverse procedure to install.
