Cold Advance Solenoid: Testing and Inspection

1985 FEDERAL CRX HF & 1986-87 MODELS W/AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

Cold Advance Solenoid Valve Circuit

1. Inspect speed pulser and thermosensor, replace as required.
2. Check for voltage at control unit connector blue wire with ignition switch in the on position. Voltage should be present. If voltage is not present, check blue wire between ignition coil and control unit.
3. Check for voltage at control unit connector black/yellow wire with ignition switch in the on position. Voltage should be present. If voltage is not present, check fuse and wiring.
4. Check black wire for continuity between control unit and suitable ground. Continuity should be present, repair as required.
