Fig. 14 Measuring temperature of thermowax valve.:

1. Disconnect lower coolant hose from the thermowax valve, then insert a thermometer into the open coolant fitting, Fig. 14.

2. Measure coolant temperature and refer to chart, Fig. 15, to find correct linkage measurement.

3. Measure from end of fast idle cam to end of fast idle lever, Fig. 16. If measurement is as specified, linkage is satisfactory. If measurement is not as specified, spread or narrow gap in tabs to bring linkage measurement within specifications, Fig. 15.
4. Remove thermometer, then reinstall lower coolant hose.
