Air Temperature Sensor ( Ambient / Intake ): Testing and Inspection


1. Check wiring from control unit to sensor.
2. Disconnect electrical connector and remove thermosensor/intake air temperature sensor from engine block/air cleaner.
3. To test sensors, suspend them in cold water and measure resistance between terminals while slowly heating water. Do not let sensor touch bottom of container and continuously stir water to ensure even temperature.
4. If resistance is not .98-1.34k ohms at 95°F and .22-.35k ohms at 176°F, replace sensors.
