A/T Idle Control Solenoid Valve

Exc. 1987-88 Accord & 1988 Prelude
Ensure parking brake is applied and wheels are properly blocked.
1. Connect system checker harness between ECU and wire harness coupler.
2. Start engine, then place gear lever in the D3 or D4 position.
3. Measure voltage between terminal A14 (green (+)) and terminal A18 (black/red (-)) of system checker harness, Fig. 23. Voltage should be 0.5-1.5 volts.
4. If voltage is greater than 9 volts, replace ECU. If no voltage is present, proceed as follows:
a. Check for open circuit in black/yellow wire between No. 11 fuse and A/T idle control solenoid valve.
b. Exc. on 1987 Prelude, check for open circuit in green wire between A/T idle control solenoid valve and ECU.
c. On 1987 Prelude, check for open circuit in red wire between A/C idle boost solenoid valve and ECU.
c. On all models, check for open circuit in idle control solenoid valve.
