Manifold Pressure/Vacuum Sensor: Testing and Inspection

1. Disconnect MAP sensor vacuum tube, (#21), from throttle body and plug opening in throttle body.
2. Connect vacuum hand pump to open end of vacuum tube.
3. Disconnect control unit electrical connector, then connect system checker harness between control unit and wire harness connector.
4. Turn ignition switch on, then connect voltmeter positive probe to terminal C11 of system checker harness and negative probe to terminal C14, Fig. 23. Measure voltage while applying vacuum to sensor.
5. Voltage should be as indicated in Figs. 24 and 25. If voltage is not as specified, check vacuum tube for leakage and open or shorted wires between control unit and sensor. Replace sensor if wires are satisfactory.
